Chairman and CEO
Shelley O’Connor is Managing Director, Chairman, and CEO of Morgan Stanley Private Bank, National Association and Morgan Stanley Bank, N.A. She is a member of the Morgan Stanley Operating Committee.
Ms. O’Connor has held a succession of senior leadership positions during her more than 30-year career with Morgan Stanley. These include serving as Co-Head of Wealth Management which provides investing, lending and cash management solutions to individual investors through a network of approximately 600 branches and 16,000 advisors and Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Stanley Private Bank.
She also served as Chief Administrative Officer for Wealth Management and as Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. Client Coverage Group.
Ms. O’Connor joined the Wealth Management leadership team in New York in 2004 after a 20-year career in Wealth Management branch offices culminating in leading the Southwest Region for the Private Wealth Management business.
Ms. O’Connor serves on the Board of Directors of Catalyst, the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, and MAKERS@. She earned a BA from The University of California, San Diego.
Matthew Posard ‘89

Matt Posard is a 30 year veteran of San Diego’s biotech and life sciences industry. Mr. Posard currently works with over 10 public and private biotech startups as a board member or executive advisor. He is Chairman of the Board of La Jolla based Dermtech Inc (NASDAQ: DMTK) — a high growth company offering skin cancer diagnosis utilizing genetic analysis. Mr. Posard also serves as Executive Chairman of La Jolla based Stemson Therapeutics — an early development stage company utilizing gene therapy to grow new hair follicles for men and women suffering from hair loss. Mr. Posard has over 7 years of experience with public and private board service and enjoys working with start ups where he advises first time CEO’s and executives on capital fund raising strategies, business and budget planning, go to market commercial strategy and organizational development.
Soon after graduating UCSD in 1989, Mr. Posard joined Gen-Probe Inc. (since acquired by Hologic Inc) — a San Diego based molecular diagnostic leader in infectious disease detection. He spent 8 years in a variety of Finance, Commercial and R&D Project Management roles. In 1999, Mr. Posard joined San Diego based Biosite Inc (since acquired by Inverness Medical) where he led the Marketing department launch a novel biomarker used to diagnose Congestive Heart Failure — a $1B+ market today. In 2006, Mr. Posard joined San Diego based Illumina Inc. where he spent over nine years as a senior executive overseeing Global Marketing, Sales, and two business units responsible for clinical and consumer based genetic testing.
Matt Posard is a proud 1989 graduate of UCSD (Muir College) majoring in Management Science. He met his wife his freshman year at UCSD and today have three adult children. Matt and his wife Lisa live in Del Mar and enjoy a balanced life of philanthropy, political engagement, mentoring/advising, and returning to their roots at UCSD.

Barry joined Qatalyst in 2018 where he primarily focuses on enterprise software M&A. He was previously with Citigroup’s Technology Investment Banking team where he advised clients on mergers and acquisitions, equity financings and LBO transactions. Barry advised Looker on its sale to Google for $2.6Bn, Magento on its sale to Adobe for $1.7Bn, Imperva on its sale to Thoma Bravo for $2.1Bn, Demisto on its sale to Palo Alto Networks for $560M, and Broadcom on its $130Bn proposal to acquire Qualcomm. Barry grew up in the Bay Area and received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from UCSD, MS in Engineering from UCLA and MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.

Lauren Edgerton is a Vice President with the Wells Fargo Securities Investment Banking group in San Francisco. She joined Wells Fargo in 2015 and works with debt and equity capital raises for healthcare companies, acquisition financing, public/private buyside and sellside advisory transactions. In the past, Lauren has also held positions in private equity, investment banking and asset management in New York and Los Angeles, including an Associate Director position at UBS in New York. Lauren earned a BA in Mathematics from UCSD and a Master’s in Financial Engineering from UCLA Anderson School of Management. She is on the board of trustees for Foxcroft School in Middleburg, VA, and Berkeley Repertory Theatre in Berkeley, CA.

Trever Acers is a Managing Director at Objective Capital Partners. Trever draws on his 20+ years of investment banking, acquisition, and strategy experience advising market companies on transaction execution and strategy. Prior to founding Objective, Trever served as a Director at TGG Capital, Director of The Oxford Investment Group's Western U.S. private equity activities and Managing Partner at Passage Venture Capital Partners. Trever has an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management with a finance concentration and a bachelor's degree with high honors in business administration from the University of San Diego.

Former COO of Sequoia Capital Global Equities
Ralph is an innovative operator with a proven track record in venture capital, hedge funds, technology start-up companies, and investment banking. Most recently, Ralph was co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Sequoia Capital Global Equities, a global TMT focused long/short public markets fund at Sequoia. Prior to that, Ralph was Chief Operating Officer of Clarium Capital Management, a global macro fund founded by Peter Thiel. Before Clarium, Ralph was an early employee at Paypal, Inc. as Vice President of Finance and Treasurer where he built and scaled the treasury function to ensure the payment platform operated smoothly within the global banking system. Ralph started his career at Bank of America Securities as Vice President, Assistant Treasurer and Trader responsible for the global funding needs of the investment bank. Ralph stays active by advising hedge funds and venture capital firms, as well as start-up companies. Ralph graduated from University of California at San Diego with a B.S. in Management Sciences and is a CFA Charterholder.
Steven Erickson ‘11, CFA
Steven Erickson, CFA co-founded Anbec Partners upon graduating Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude from UCSD in 2011. While at UCSD, Steven earned Honors with Distinction in Economics and was a member of the Undergraduate Investment Society (UIS). He developed a passion for finance during his apprenticeship under Ed Anderson, who was a former Managing Partner at Tweedy, Browne, and, in 1984, was deemed a “Super-Investor” by Warren Buffett. Steven earned his CFA charter in 2015 and currently manages Anbec Partners along with Co-Founder and Managing Partner, David Anderson. The Anbec portfolio focuses on relatively illiquid over-the-counter equities, value stocks, and special situations. Anbec believes these areas of the market to be less efficient, thus providing smaller pools of capital with the opportunity for a competitive advantage.

Bosco Luján, CPM®, is a Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley, where he serves High Net-Worth Individuals, Families Offices, and Institutional Investors. Mr. Luján holds both the Portfolio Management Director and International Client Advisor designations at Morgan Stanley. He has over 20 years of experience working in Mexico, New York and California. He has also ventured into entrepreneurship, Advertising, Beer & Consumer Packaged Goods industries at Gamesa-Quaker, FEMSA, & Heineken USA, and Wealth Management at Investment Placement Group. Mr. Luján holds a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Tec de Monterrey. He also earned an MBA from Rady School of Management where he studied Modern Portfolio Theory under Nobel Laureate Harry Markowitz and is currently President of the Alumni Board.

Leo is a Business Analyst at PIMCO. He has worked on Portfolio Performance Attribution and is currently part of the Risk Management Platform. He has 2 years of investment and financial services experience and holds a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Economics from New York University. He studied at UCSD Revelle College from 2012 to 2013.
Cody Griffin ‘11

Cody Griffin is a Case Team Leader at Bain & Company’s Los Angeles office. He joined the firm in 2016 as a Summer Associate in the Los Angeles office and returned to Bain Los Angeles as a full-time Consultant in 2017. Since joining Bain, Cody has worked on cases across many of our industries, including Aerospace and Defense, Tech, Utilities and Private Equity.
Prior to business school, Cody worked for Triage Consulting Group helping hospitals improve operations and revenue through coordinated reviews of patient health and insurance reimbursements.
Cody holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson and a dual BA from UC San Diego. In his spare time, he enjoys surfing, hiking, concerts, cooking, reading, and sipping coffee with friends.

Fred Koerber is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Services - Operations Group in Los Angeles. He specializes in merger integration and carve-out services, as well as corporate IT strategic planning.
Mr. Koerber has over 15 years of experience providing business advisory services and seven years’ experience working for technology companies in both the US and EMEA.
While Mr. Koerber’s typical client services including leading pre-acquisition diligence and post-acquisition planning and execution activities, his advisory experience covers a broad range of skills including interim roles and restructuring engagements.

He also spends much of his time recruiting, training, and mentoring students in the program. Prior to UGF, Peter was a Principal with University Venture Fund where he participated in funding several companies including Instructure (NYSE: INST), Lineagen and Workfront. Peter has also worked as an international business consultant, helping launch over 10 micro-franchises around the world. He is a loan committee member for the IRC Refugee Loan Fund and frequent guest lecturer at several local universities. He holds an honors double major in Economics and International Business from Brigham Young University.

Armin is an investor on the growth stage investment team at Greycroft. Based in the Los Angeles office, his responsibilities include sourcing, evaluating, executing growth stage investment opportunities and supporting existing portfolio companies. Prior to joining Greycroft, Armin worked in the Technology Investment Banking group at Jefferies in San Francisco, where he worked on a variety of M&A deals, private placement, leveraged buyout, debt financing, and public equity transactions.

He joined Sierra Ventures in 2013 and focuses on investments in Enterprise SaaS, Vertical SaaS, and Digital Health/Healthcare IT. Vignesh also has a background in M&A transactions for enterprise software companies, having worked at AGC Partners, a Boston-based investment bank.
